How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Ensures that the appropriate amount of inventory is maintained in the Emergency Department. Manages the ED Materials Management staff. Facilitates the ED product evaluation process. Troubleshoots problems or issues that arise in the supply chain.
Performs specific job responsibilities:
* Oversees and coordinates inventory control operations for ED. Establishes overall specifications for min-max procurement systems, requisitions and ordering, conducts market and inventory management research as well as vendor evaluations; directly initiates purchases for purchases and equipment where appropriate.
* Ensures effective maintenance of the ED inventory including receipts, purchase orders, general maintenance, and physical inventory update functions of the system where required. Ensures that inventory quantities are sufficient for present and future business needs at Carilion Clinic ED.
* Coordinates the Lawson procurement applications for all purchasing functions with and for the ED. Administrator of the Lawson Requisition Self Service module. Responsible for converting manual Materials Request processes to Lawson e-requisition processes. Updating and maintaining the ED Materials Management Pyxis and Par Assist Inventories, including transactions, bin locations, and other data elements required to maintain data integrity
* Prepares, processes, and completes purchase orders for all ED inventory goods and non-stock goods, as assigned, and forwards to Corporate Purchasing for placement and processing. Reviews requisition orders to verify accuracy, terminology and specifications.
* Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of perpetual inventory records and data, including inventory reconciliation, contract and requisition order status, special project management worksheets and indicators of vendor performance.
* Supervises the day to day operations of the ED MM Department. Supervises Materials Management staff assigned to the ED.
* Ensures that all customer and supplier inquiries concerning order status, changes or cancellations are addressed effectively.
* Develops and ensures system-wide compliance with all Carilion Clinic purchasing policies and procedures. Maintains, communicates, and enforces established Carilion and work area policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control guidelines.
* Accountable for meeting assigned ED Materials Management and Purchasing budgetary goals and scorecard performance indicators or statistics. Assists the development of the ED and Materials Management budgets.
* Performs other tasks and collateral duties as may be directed by appropriate Carilion Materials Management such as serving on selected committees, participating in special projects and representing Materials Management at designated meetings.
What We Require:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Three years of previous purchasing and warehouse operations experience preferably in medical supply field preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of Lawson or equivalent MMIS, with inventory control, purchasing and warehouse modules. Familiarity with automated procurement and inventory control systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel with the ability to create spreadsheets Strong customer services and problem solving skills. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. About Carilion
